The 2013 Senior Awards Assembly will be on Tuesday, May 21 at 9:00 a.m. in the high school auditorium.  Parents are welcome to attend.
 
On Saturday, April 13, 2013, Congressman Tim Murphy will be hosting an information meeting regarding the service academy nomination process at Chartiers Valley High School.  All aspects of the nomination process will be explained.  The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m.  Representatives from United States Air Force Academy, United States Merchant Marine Academy, United States Military Academy, and United States Naval Academy will be present.  For more information please contact Elaine Klofta at 412-344-5583 or elaine.klofta@mail.house.gov.
 
The Central and Southwestern Westmoreland Transition Councils will be holding the annual Parent Resource Night on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Central Westmoreland Career and Technology Center.  Representatives from over 25 adult service agencies will be there to provide information to help learning support students prepare for the transition to life after high school.  Click here for more information.
 
Duquesne University will be holding an Athletic Training Student Symposium on Saturday, May 18th, 2013 from 8:30am - 1:00 pm.  High School students are welcome to come and learn about athletic training through hands on sessions and speakers' workshops.  For more information visit www.duq.edu/athletic-training.
Any senior who is planning on attending any type of post-secondary school must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to qualify for federal and state grants and loans as well as financial aid from the school they will be attending.  Students should check with the school they are planning to attend for their deadline.  Applications are online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.   Paper copies are available in the Guidance Office.  Call Mr. Potoka at 724-547-4100 ext. 1730 with any questions.
 Waynesburg University will be holding their 8th annual CSI Camp on June 16 through June 21, 2013.  Students will learn from certified experts in areas such as surveillance techniques, forensic science, canine workshops and other speakers.  To find out more about CSI Camp go to www.csicamp.waynesburg.edu
  Waynesburg University will be holding their 4th annual Sports Announcing Camp on June 17th through June 21.  Students will learn and practice the skills necessary to become a successful sportscaster, including play-by-play, reporting, interviewing, and sports talk.  Presenters include Lanny Frattare, Bill Hillgrove, John Steigerwald, and Paul Steigerwald.  For more information go to www.sportsannouncingcamp.waynesburg.edu.
